Energy & Loss Management System
- Strategic energy review
There are three key components to the Strategic Energy Review:
- Operational Energy Review - Our Operational Energy Review benchmarks your current performance against best practices using KBC's proprietary Best Technology methodology. Gap analysis is carried out to identify areas of opportunity for improvement to your energy performance.
- Process Unit Energy Optimization - This phase concentrates on individual process units at your facility using Pinch Analysis to identify minimum energy consumption targets. We then propose individual improvement projects to help you achieve those targets.
- Total Site Analysis - Projects identified in the Operational Energy Review and Pinch Analysis phase are then reviewed to ensure coordination. The result is an energy RoadMap for your site - a strategic development plan to ensure compatibility and a common perspective. This phase extends unit pinch analysis to examining how the processes interface with the utility system. Projects will be identified that optimize the use or generation of steam to meter the plant steam, fuel and power system configuration.
- Energy management and optimization
The energy management system typically includes:
- Monitoring refinery Best Technology (BT) efficiency
- Monitoring individual unit BT efficiency
- Generating refinery and unit-by-unit energy balances
- Generating refinery steam balance
- Optimizing refinery steam system
- Monitoring fired heater efficiency
- Calculating power generation efficiency
- Monitoring turbine efficiency
- Monitoring exchanger fouling
- Loss Control
Loss Control is an organized and continuous effort to help decrease the possibility of unforeseen losses and the impact of those that do occur.
We help businesses address their concerns about:
- Rising insurance costs due to a high frequency or severity of accidents
- Identifying and controlling loss exposures created by operations, products or services
- Compliance with OSHA's requirements
- Risks created by new operations or changes in existing operations
